First Maui Hike

A trip to the high country on superbowl sunday

We were kind of racing the rain on this day. Cloud ceiling at the highest point in the trail was just a few hundred feet higher. Here’s J as seen from my nikonos camera. Scored a rarish air-only lens for my underwater camera. It’s unmetered so I haven’t used it much, the light in Fairbanks when I’m out has been hard to guess at plus we didn’t get much at all last year. Anyway, I love the pictures it takes. In the way background here, that first point with a couple of trees sticking up, that’s our camping spot, or the first one anyway. Nice day to be out. With all the high overcast it wasn’t super hot which it can be and this the dry side of the island it could have been much worse. As it was we had a nice lunch of avocados, cheese and maybe a something else or two up towards the top of this trail. You can take it one-way but these days there is some construction going on at the top of the trail past the wind turbines. It was strange enough we left it alone. Great colors on this day though! Got to watch the whales out in the ocean, too. Win-win
