Well, so that got us past the bears so I could actually do some work out at the
mile 71 station (the day can't all be fun). The road was totally sketchy out
there, really muddy and yet another time it would have been great to have the
four wheel drive! Oh well, I'll get it going sometime this summer. So, anyway,
coming back the bears were totally hanging out right along side the road. They
were on the right so Hagen took this picture and the next couple as I drove by.
No way in the world I was stopping to take pictures! The three of us learned we
need to do a better job of communicating in those situations, too. I was totally
amped up, heart pounding, the whole rigamarole since I couldn't see how close the
bears were and if they were ever headed our way. Well, it didn't help matters
that Hagen and Margaret kept oohing and ahhing and umming ominously. I'd have to
get the quick clarification on whether it was an "oooh go go go!" or more of a "
oooh, how cute" type of noise. Made for some entertaining crossed signals anyway.
