Freeze yourself in one easy step.

Go outside.

Actually, check out ther serious amount of window frost I've going on right now. Is that something or what!
Frosty Window

In other continuing cold news my bike hasn't broken yet even though it was -46 this morning, a new personal biking record of dubious note.

So, maybe some of you are wondering what's it's like to be out in that serious cold. The truth of the matter is that in the abstract -46 is absurdly cold and you're absolutely right, if I go outside in just a t-shirt and pants my hands are nearly numb in about 5 minutes. But, the beauty of it is that you don't have to go out in a t-shirt and pants. That's what coats and stuff are for. So, today for the ride to work I had a light pair of long undies on downstairs plus heavy fleece pants and regular pants over the top, bunny boots and one pair o' socks on the tootsies and 2 medium fleece long undewear tops plus a fleece jacket upstairs. My super mittens on my hands and a fleece balaclava, fleece hat, and fleece mouth cover on the head (plus bike helmet). In all that stuff I was pretty good to go. Throw on that carhart suit and I'd be ready to be out all day. So, cold? Definitely and I think 30 below and colder you're pretty much in survival mode but it's also bearable if you wear enough clothes.
PS, it's been to cold to do my monthly snow surveys or weekly precipitation stuff out at CPCRW so there are some limits but that's mainly because I doubt the snow machine will start.
